Visual Arts
Students in K-6 grade classes experience a variety of art styles and artists from cultures worldwide. They make two-and three-dimensional projects using many art media, including clay, paints, drawing materials, found objects, and collage. There are two art shows each year in which students participate. Individual creativity is emphasized.
Drama
Laurel Hall offers performance opportunities in grades K-8. These groups traditionally present productions in the spring. Seventh and eighth grade students present a full length musical each spring.
Music
The fundamentals of music including melody, rhythm, and form, and the basics of music reading are part of the curriculum. In the third grade, students learn to read music while they learn to play the recorder. Choral and performing opportunities are also available to students at appropriate grade levels.
In the fourth grade, students may be part of the beginning band program. Students may continue with band instruments through grade 8. All bands perform twice a year. In addition to the band program, Laurel Hall also offers opportunities in the bells and strings programs. The advanced band, bells and strings traditionally go on a tour in the Spring.
